Alchemy Cafe and Bistro offers a suburban-chic dining environment located in the heart of downtown Gloucester, Massachusetts. Our Restaurant offers upscale casual dining at affordable prices, and our adventurous menus provide enough choices to please everyone.

New Years Eve
This evening we will be offering a shortened version of our usual a la carte dinner menu along with the option for a Prix Fix dinner with or without special pairings with each course. The theme of the dinner is a Pre-Prohibition Party, so don your best waistcoat and haberdashery attire (not required but recommended) and join us for an evening of good cheer to help ring 2012 in style.

The Prix Fix will include: a complementary glass of sparkling, a complementary amuse bouche, the choice of 2 appetizers, 2 salads, and 3 entrees, along with a complementary dessert to finish. This special menu will be priced at $50 per person, or $70 per person for the special “pairings” selection included. We do not have our menu completely finalized for that evening but keep checking our facebook page and this page as well for updates as we get closer to the big night!

A most comfortable destination

Our couches, candles and mismatched furniture bring out the best in what everyone loves about Alchemy. It is a wonderful place to hang out because it feels as much like a home as a restaurant. There are several different rooms — the brick room, the mafia table, the living room, the community table, the bar, the tapas table, etc. — each with a different vibe.

Check out our room that we’ve dubbed “The Cave”. We found it when we dug under the staircase. It is a super cozy private room with couch two chairs and coffee table. It is strategically located so you can sit on the couch and peek out at the whole scene in the restaurant. Come see.

Where Does Your Protein Come From?

Living in Gloucester, we are fortunate to have the best seafood right at our doorstep. Seafood doesn’t get any fresher than off the docks of America’s oldest seaport. It’s all wild caught and free from antibiotics and hormones.

Alchemy patrons tend to be more discriminating eaters than most restaurant customers. So we’ve gone on a hunt for the best meat we can find. We found family farms which certify that all their animals are raised – Without antibiotics – Without growth hormones – Without any animal by products in their feed – With lots of room to run around – With full records from birth to table.

These meats cost a bit more, but we know they are safer and tastier. We love being on the leading edge of providing you the best raised meat one could eat.
These meats are better than “100% Natural.” USDA guidelines for “100% All Natural” simply requires no artificial ingredients and minimal processing. The guidelines do not address the treatment of animals, type of feed, or use of antibiotics.

Catering from Alchemy

Alchemy offers catering services on multiple levels. We offer full service catering at your place or ours, or we can make your party food for delivery or pickup. Our approach is wide open — you can come to us with a menu in hand or we can help you create a menu that is absolutely ‘you’ from scratch.

Business Meetings

Alchemy’s dining areas are designed to accommodate large or small corporate meetings, lunches and dinners. We offer complete access to our open WIFI.

At Alchemy’s Bar

Our pub-style bar offers all the usual cocktails as well as an extensive beer and wine selection. It’s perfect for an intimate glass of wine, a cocktail before dinner, or a place to eat and have a beer while you watch the game. Just ate? Our after dinner drinks are the perfect compliment to any meal.
